Kelly is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Rockingham County that occurred at 4 p.m. Friday on Route 33 253 feet east of Route 612 Peake Mountain Road .A 2013 Triumph motorcycle was entering Route 33 from a parking lot, when it crossed the eastbound and the westbound travel lanes, ran off of the roadway, down an embankment, and collided with a drainage pipe.The driver of the motorcycle, Marc D. Donnelly, 55, of Hinton, died at the scene of the crash as a result of his injuries. Donnelly was wearing a helmet.The crash remains under investigation. The Conservation Management Institute has had phenomenal success as a college-level research center for many years, said Paul Winistorfer, dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environment. As we look forward to greater impacts by leveraging mutual interests with our academic program in fish and wildlife conservation, I am certain that the outcome will be positive from all perspectives. Since 1999, the Conservation Management Institute has been awarded more than $40 million in research grants from numerous sources to fund projects that solve conservation management issues. Much of the institutes work has been allied with the fish and wildlife conservation program, one of the leadin stanley cup g academic research units at Virginia Tech.
